From London Heathrow Airport

There is a regular National Express coach service from the central bus station at Heathrow airport, which is located close to Terminals 1, 2 and 3, direct to Southampton. Some coaches stop at the University of Southampton's Highfield Interchange, otherwise you can take a short ride to your accommodation from Southampton Coach Station. The journey takes about two hours. Further details can be found on the National Express website.

Heathrow Airport has a direct rail connection to central London (Heathrow Express) which connects to the national and local rail network. Also, you can catch a RailAir coach from Heathrow Airport to either Woking or Reading, from where you can connect to Southampton bound trains Further details can be found on the National Rail Enquiries website.

There are two train stations in Southampton, one in the city centre (Southampton Central) and one near the airport (Southampton Airport Parkway). Both of these stations have a frequent bus service to the University:

  • from Central the U1A takes around 30 minutes.
  • from the Airport the U1C takes roughly 15 minutes.
There is a bus approximately every 10 minutes during the day. A single journey costs £2, or a day ticket can be purchased for £3. For further information, please see the Uni-link website. There is also a taxi rank at both stations.

From London Gatwick Airport

You can catch a National Express coach from Gatwick airport via Heathrow Airport to Southampton. The journey takes about three and a half hours. You can also catch a direct train from Gatwick Airport to Southampton - this journey takes about two hours. Further details can be found on the National Rail Enquiries website.

From Southampton Airport

Southampton has its own international airport with connecting routes to several European destinations including Paris. From the airport, you can catch the University's Uni-link service. Further details about the service are available on the Uni-link website.

Taxi

English Rose collection provide a taxi service from the airports to Southampton. The price from Heathrow to an address in Southampton is approximately £79 and from Gatwick £81. If there are mo re than one of you travelling on the same flight please contact them as arrangements can be made for larger vehicles at different prices.
