Title: The Legacy of John Tukey: The Problem of Multiple Comparisons ... and Beyond

Abstract: The Problem of Multiple Comparisons (PMC), John Tukey`s seminal contribution to the field of simultaneous inference, was only published 40 years after its intial release in 1953. Despite this delay, PMC had an enormous impact on the field. In this presentation, I will review some of the important themes in the book and how they were carried forward in Tukey`s (and others`) later work. I will also describe Tukey`s pedagogical strategies for teaching the philosophy and methods of SI in professional education seminars over more than 20 years.
